Avoiding Milk Protein  living without milk

HOME

My search for milk free products began innocently enough by reading labels. This how ever proved to be harder than I first anticipated. I quickly learned about the ways milk can be hidden in processing agents and in food additives.

I then got into calling food manufactures, this was sometimes more helpful than other times. There are companies with excellent allergy policies and many companies who don't know what an allergy policy is.

In my search came companies who post lists of milk free policies on their web sites, There are companies who have an "allergy policy" of not revealing ingredient information sighting "proprietary information" regarding ingredients. One customer service agent said "We don't speak with our ingredient suppliers, so we don't know what is in our ingredients when they come to us"

To be fair I also had companies ask "Would you like our milk free list E-mailed or snail mailed to you?" after calling them.

Customer service hours are not always the best hours, so I turned to the web in my search. I E-mailed several companies at what ever time of day pleased me.

One company I asked for a list of milk free products, and was flatly denied, then four months later they posted a list of milk free products on their web site. Some company sites, for those with severe allergies explain policies regarding cross contamination. A few wonderful companies list what products are made on dedicated lines that are milk free.

After a while I had lists of milk free foods, food practices and more. It seamed only fair to share this information. The problem was that food polices and ingredients change , so when I developed this web site I was careful to link directly to the manufacturer or provide a phone number so my visitors could get the most up to date information possible.

As Avoiding Milk Protein grew I've hooked up with people all dealing with allergies and intolerances. I also was able to link up with companies and groups who help people, both providing information and selling useful allergy products. That I am now able to bring to you. Reporting broken links helps everybody, E-mail me if you found a interesting product or if you are searching for something, for you allergy needs.

Best wishes,

Karen Blue
